    Fill in an electrical product

    Open the product and scroll to Product metafields. The WEEE fields are already there (created automatically). Set weee_show to true, enter your registration number in weee_reg_number — for example WEEE-Reg.-Nr. DE 12345678 — and put your take-back instructions in weee_disposal, one per line. Add weee_battery_note only if the item contains batteries. Use weee_eco_points for what makes this product easier on the environment — one specific, provable fact per line. Save.

    Add the block to the product template

    In the theme editor, use the page selector at the top and choose Products › Default product. Click Add block and choose WEEE Disposal Info. Save. Important: the block shows product data, so it must live on the product template — not the home page.

    Check the product page

    Open the product's page in your online store: the WEEE marking appears automatically. Products without WEEE data show nothing — your non-electrical products are unaffected.

About the marking

The crossed-out wheelie bin is the symbol set out in Annex IX of Directive 2012/19/EU. It tells buyers that the item must not go in household waste and has to be handed in separately. Several member states also expect the producer registration number to be visible at the point of sale — in Germany the WEEE-Reg.-Nr. in particular. Enter the number exactly as it was issued to you.

About the product highlights

weee_eco_points is shown to shoppers as a short list. Keep every line specific and provable — “housing is 70% recycled plastic”, “battery is user-replaceable”, “spare parts available for 10 years”. Vague or comparative environmental claims such as “eco-friendly” or “greener than other brands” are restricted in the EU under Directive (EU) 2024/825, so leave the field empty rather than filling it with generic wording.
